Along the way through Arizona after leaving Hoover Dam we came across this rain shower with a rainbow. My typical frustration is trying to find the next exit off the highway as sometimes it can be 10 miles or more before you can exit. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long and as usual for myself I took way too many shots.

While in Death Valley NP we took a short off road detour to this overlook. It was extremely windy that day and made it feel like someone was aiming a blow dryer at your face. If you look carefully you can see the winding road that descends in to the salt valley. We received a good tip to head in to the park this way from where we had our oil changed in Ridgecrest. This was more scenic than ways we had approached the park in the past.

We saw this collared lizard while we were out in Chaco NHP, New Mexico. We were up on the mesa exploring Pueblo Alto and New Alto and also during that time found some 900+ year old pottery shards. We left them where they were due to the prison time if you are found with them, and besides, other people might want to see them.

I'm up here! This is from when we were in Death Valley and I decided to take a "quick" half mile hike. It was only about 120 degrees out that day. A real dry heat too so no problem right? You can see the oval shaped parking lot below and the one road that traverses this part of the park as it stretches out to "Badwater", the lowest point in the North America, which is 282 feet below sea level. If you ever feel like trying something like that, bring as much water as you can carry. Bring gloves too, the rocks are so hot that they can hurt to touch.
